Richard Cypher discovers that the death of Darken Rahl caused a tear in the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead—the Underworld. Kahlan learns she is the last living Confessor. The group, Richard Cypher, Kahlan Amnell and Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, has been joined by the Mord-Sith, Cara. The only way to close the veil is to use the legendary Stone of Tears, which was used, by the Creator, to close the veil at the start of creation. The group searches for the stone throughout the season, overcoming many obstacles along their journey
